edit: just giving what he asked for, I don't believe the article.

ALSO... is google that hard to use dude? I googled "PS3 sells same as gamecube" and found that not even half way down the first page.

he never said anything about efficiency.

He was replying to this "and naturally they pull the plug on the worst performing divisions."

which is not the case. The inefficiency is almost certainly the cause of the cutbacks (through the whole company). It's not performing poorly, as idiotce said; it just isn't performing as well as it could be.

I can make games look bad by oversimplifying them too.

Why should I be excited for a worn out hack n slash, a tomb raider rip off, and an interactive cutscene... (I don't actually think this about any of the games)

CWATIDIDTHUR?!

it's not poorly performing. It's outlook is better by a good amount of others(note: It's entertainment and devices, not just gaming. They're in charge of the zune, windows mobile, and porting windows aps to apples.)

Seriously, read a flippin wall street journal or watch CNN or something. It might change your life.

is nintendo. Seriously, just one passable mature (by definition not rating) story driven game a year. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!

I wouldn't say microsoft isn't working hard on increasing the quality of it's services through xbl, xbla, xbl community games, and other additions to xbl; I consider XBL community games and things like kodu more helpful to gaming as a whole, because these are the devices that are going to give us the great gaming studios of tomorrow (kodu specifically wi...

If they would have been more sympathetic towards their fanbase in the press pre-launch of the PS3, it would have been a lot smoother for them.

And a lot of people still remember the "We could sell an empty box" and "this generation starts when we say it starts" fiasco's.

Sony has one console being sold that can be considered this gen.

You should have said who has sold the most consoles since the start of the gen in 05, and I'd agree with you.

Also, you can't bunch in the 130 million consoles the PS2 sold before the start of this generation with your sales from this gen. That's horrendously misleading.

comparing a single RTS coming out in the first 2 months of 09 to the entire lineup of PS3 exclusives for the whole year? Am I the only one that thinks there's something wrong with that?

@below: it does have one. people just ignore it. Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, Forza 3, Race Pro, Star Ocean, and Halo 3: ODST are all included in it.

I'd say

07: 360 (Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, PGR4, Forza 2, on top of great multi-plat lineup)
08: too close to call
09: too soon to call

That's entertainment value. For business Nintendo wins each year.

australia has always caught the shaft HARD on video games (and almost all imports).

you mean the one price cut in the UK and the one price cut in the US to match?

are you really counting those as two?

6359d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

they both have momentum, but judging by the holiday the 360 has more right now (has, not will have).

Will killzone change that? maybe. It has yet to be seen. I'd say it might even it out for a while, but sony's gonna need a price cut or major console revision to build some more hype for the console itself.

There are enough good multiplatform games that an exclusive won't generate the hype it used to. Price is a much larger factor this gen than it's ever been before. ...

I'm a business person and an amateur game designer. You might not care about the budget, but this is my future career field. It's not just a hobby I go mess around with with my friends when I go home.

For someone so ready to call someone a fanboy, you really are a hypocrite.

Yes, I do know how much was put into halo 3's development. Around 30 million dollars were spent on development, and another 30 on advertising (about half the budget of killzone 2 edit: 30 million being half) and took around 3 years to develop.

And who cares how much the was RnD. There's RnD in every game. Chronicles of Riddick did a lot for real time normal mapping, which is now standard, Star Wars: Force unleashed did a butt ton for physics, probably soon to be standard, idTech ...

don't be dumb. No 360 exclusive has had the budget of killzone 2, and only one has had even close to a similar timeframe, and it's not out yet.

@article: RE5 looks a lot better than I expected it to from the demo last year. I'd say they're much more comparable than you'd think, which is more a statement to the quality of RE5 than a discredit to KZ2.

PS: HOLY BALLS MOTORCYCLING ZOMBIES!

M$ isn't losing money. They wouldn't be making a profit if they were losing money.

for killzone 2. You'd be stupid not to if you own one already.
